How do Atlanta Catholic schools fund tuition assistance?
Catholic school aid here comes from several pools at once. The Archdiocese of Atlanta says most parishes, including parishes without a school, pay a school subsidy of about 3% of ordinary income above $300,000, and that money is earmarked for financial aid rather than operations.
Aid also comes from tax-credit scholarships such as GOAL, an archdiocesan block grant to schools, and each school's own scholarships. The archdiocese reported about $9 million in tuition assistance for 2022-23 and says tuition covers roughly 80-85% of what it costs to educate a student.
Which Catholic schools in the four counties take state scholarships?
19 Catholic schools appear in our directory, and 14 of them are on the 2026-27 Promise participating list. Every school page shows its Promise and GSNS status.
